Birthday Theme Idea:Candyland

For a child who love candy, a Candy Land Theme would be an excellent and fun choice. Make the cake look like a candy land, and play games centered around the themes found on a candy land game. Make treat bags filled with candy and cookies (moms will love that, right?)

Candy Land Cake: Make a standard sheet cake in your child's favorite flavor. When it is cool, frost it with butter cream frosting in your child's favorite color. If you can get your hands on a Candy Land game board, you will be able to fashion the cake decorating to resemble the board. You can also go to to see a game board.

The Candy Land game features peppermints, iced gingerbread men, colored gumdrops, licorice sticks, chocolate candies, and circus peanuts.

Send out these cute invitations!

Sweet 16 Party Tips

The sweet sixteen party which you and your daughter plan should start with picking a theme for the party.  The theme you choose may dictate where you will hold the party.  If your daughter wants a bowling party, for instance, then the party would have to be held at the local bowling alley.  Some girls with summer birthdays will want their party to be on the beach or at a local pool.  And, other girls want their theme to be elegant and more adult.  For this last type of party you might want to have it at a restaurant or at your home.

Teens usually like to party alone, meaning they prefer to have a bunch of friends over rather than hanging out with their parents and other adults. If you plan a party where  adults will be invited, be sure and give the teens a place they can congregate without the adults looking over their shoulders. Supervision may be necessary, just do it from a distance!

Teens like food at their parties and their favorite is usually pizza, chips, coke. Don; forget an awesome cake. But cupcakes are always a great choice because no one has to wait until the cake is cut before enjoying the sweet treats!

Planning a sweet sixteen party doesn’t need to be complicated or stressful.  The most important part is to plan a party everyone can enjoy and remember – especially the guest of honor.

The Joke's On You!

Laughter is good for the soul, so dive in!

Many years ago, a baker's assistant called Richard the Pourer, whose job it was to pour the dough mixture in the making of sausage rolls, noted that he was running low on one of the necessary spices, sent his apprentice to the store to buy more.

Unfortunately, upon arriving at the shop the young man realized that he had forgotten the name of the ingredient. All he could do was to tell the shopkeeper that it was: "For Richard the Pourer, for batter for wurst."

The corner shop baker was a true artist when it came to making birthday cakes. One customer asked him "can you make a birthday cake for my wife, she's an optician?" He agreed and produced a birthday cake in the perfect detail of a winking eye.

His next customer said " can you make a birthday cake for my husband, he's a dentist." He agreed and produced a cake in the shape of an open mouth, including the teeth and tongue.
At that moment another customer began to leave his shop, when the baker asked "can I help you?" The lady turned and said"no, I don't think so,it's my husband birthday today, but he's a gynaecologist".

Cupcakes for Cancer

Today, I wanted to share a really great organization I found the other day. It's called "Cupcakes for Cancer". Who ever knew that a cupcake could have so much purpose and meaning? And the best part? It was started by a 13 year old girl who won a tough battle over cancer a few years ago herself. Now, she want to help other children with the same battle. They have already raised thousands of dollars, and they're wanting "Cupcake angels" in every state!

It's as simple as kid's having a cupcake bake, and raising money for other kids who have cancer. You can find out more at her facebook page or her myspace page. Many different groups are taking part in this...what about you?
